The Sony Vaio P gets some interesting upgrades
When Sony released its Vaio P early last year, it was quite a feast to look at with its revolutionary design. Now more than a year and a half, Sony has revisited the Vaio P and introduced some interesting features to make it more functional.
The new Vaio P still retains its unique appearance that makes it extremely portable, fashionable and usable as a laptop at the same time. It’s quite compact and weighs just over 600g making it a worthy addition to a lady’s purse.
Gaming controls?
The new Vaio P has mouse buttons on the left and a touchpad on the right corner of the screen. Reminds me of controls for handheld gaming devices. This allows you to navigate around the desktop by holding the device with your hands which is helpful if you don’t have a surface to place the Vaio P on.
Accelerometer
Usually seen in tablets and portable media devices, the Vaio P now has an accelerometer which makes it usable as an eBook reader. Turn it vertically and the screen orientation will follow so you can read eBooks properly. Tilt it slightly to the left or right to turn the pages. Or you can use the mouse buttons for that as well.
Now if only there’s a game that can make use of that accelerometer. Hmmm.
Quick access buttons
The Vaio P also gets some useful dedicated buttons beside the spacebar. Aside from the usual Vaio ASSIST button, there’s “Resolution Change Button” which allows you to switch the resolution of the LCD from 1600 x 800 to 1280 x 600 with a single touch for comfortable viewing. And The "Web Button" for Quick Web Access allows you to start surfing the web even without booting up Windows® OS.
Will the new upgrade boost the sales of the Vaio P? Only time will tell but for this device, Sony is targeting the ladies by presenting it in either electric orange or hot pink colors.

owning a vpcw216 AG netbook myself, it came to my surprise that my girlfriend would end up wanting this so much better, electric orange colored, vaio p11 as her entry level to a portable pc. always on the go with her international law of the sea seminars around the globe, this powerful p11 will fit perfectly inside her lady’s bag without any worries. this should be a must have for women on the go with a serious business agenda in mind. and oh… a pearl white leather case, sold separately, definitely completes the package.
